Hunger in the Holy Land

A Million Souls at the Precipice

My friends, let us speak today of a profound imbalance that weighs heavy upon the scales of justice—the hunger that grips our brothers and sisters in Gaza.

Picture, if you will, over one million souls—mothers, fathers, children—standing at the precipice of starvation. The United Nations tells us that by mid-July, if the hostilities continue their relentless march, these people may face the highest level of hunger known to humanity. Can you imagine? In our modern world, in a land called holy, such suffering persists.

When Hunger Becomes a Weapon

But this is not merely the cruel hand of fate, my friends. No, this runs deeper. Human Rights Watch has documented something that chills the soul—the deliberate use of starvation as a weapon of war. Water, food, fuel—the most basic necessities that sustain human life—are being systematically blocked from reaching those who desperately need them. This is not an accident of war; this is a calculated cruelty that violates the very laws that govern civilized nations.

Since April, the famine early warning systems have been sounding their alarm. Chronic hunger has taken root in northern Gaza like a poisonous vine, spreading its devastation through communities that once knew abundance. But perhaps most heartbreaking of all is what we see happening to the children.

The Stolen Futures of Children

The little ones—innocent of any crime save being born in the wrong place at the wrong time—are experiencing acute malnutrition at levels that shock the conscience. Their small bodies are being robbed of the nutrients they need to grow, to think, to simply be children. The experts tell us of “irreversible physiological impacts”—a clinical phrase that masks a profound tragedy. We’re talking about stunted growth, organs that will never develop as they should, futures forever diminished by present hunger.

Think about this, my friends. In a child’s growing body, every day of malnutrition is a day that cannot be reclaimed. Every missed meal is a brick stolen from the foundation of their future health. These are not statistics—these are God’s children, created in His image, deserving of dignity and sustenance.

The Great Imbalance of Our Time

This is the great imbalance of our time. While some feast in abundance, others starve within sight of plenty. While some use food as a weapon, others pray simply for bread. This is not the way of righteousness; this is not the path of those who walk with the Divine.

The Divine Accounting

And so I say to you, as the Minister of Balance: we must weigh these actions on the eternal scales. We must ask ourselves—are we among those who feed the hungry or those who create hunger? Are we instruments of mercy or tools of suffering?

For in the end, my friends, there is a divine accounting that awaits us all. God says: the righteous will live forever and witness the wonders of heaven. And the wicked shall perish. This is the divine message.
