The situation in Gaza is dire. According to the United Nations, over 1 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip could experience the highest level of starvation by mid-July if hostilities continue. Human Rights Watch has documented that the Israeli government is using starvation as a method of warfare in Gaza, deliberately blocking the delivery of water, food, and fuel, which constitutes a war crime. The US based famine early warning system network said it was possible Palestinians in Gaza have been allegedly experiencing chronic hunger in northern Gaza since April. Acute malnutrition among children is extremely high and this will result in irreversible physiological impacts. Malnutrition in children can have significant and lasting effects on their health and development. Some of the irreversible physiological impacts are stunted growth and compromised organ development.
Poor nutrition during the first 1,000 days of a child’s life can also result in cognitive deficits which can affect learning, memory, and overall brain development make children more susceptible to infections due to a weakened immune system. In addition, they are at higher risk of illness and slower recovery from common infections which may result in experiencing longer healing times for wounds and injuries.
The UN’s departing aid chief warned that little was being done to avert deepening catastrophe in Gaza delivering aid has become almost impossible.
The urgency of addressing this humanitarian crisis cannot be overstated. The Government in the US; espousing more words than anything else, while the mainstream media diverts the public with hyperbole like the Trump Trials and Hunter Biden’s Transgressions.
America is looking like the laughingstock of the world, no longer able to admonish other Dictators or Corrupt Leaders without sounding hypocritical. America is no longer the standard barrier of moral integrity it’s shameful how this current administration both democrats and republicans have made the American people complicit in funding a genocide.
If American politicians weren’t owned and operated by their Israeli benefactors, they could immediately ensure the delivery of essential supplies such as food, water, and medical assistance to affected communities. Urgently address the blockade on Gaza to allow for the free movement of goods and people and furthermore prioritize a lasting ceasefire to prevent further destruction and loss of life. We as Americans of goodwill and faith must question ourselves: what does this mean for the future of America and our children, will we be cursed with bad karma…
