HBCU Cancels United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

Xavier University of Louisiana, an HBCU in New Orleans cancelled United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s address amid student protests related to the Gaza conflict. The decision to cancel Thomas-Greenfield’s commencement speech was influenced by pressure from students and the community. Concerns were raised about her voting record at the United Nations, particularly regarding a ceasefire in Gaza. Students pointed out that she had repeatedly voted against a ceasefire, which contributed to the decimation of universities in Gaza and the loss of thousands and thousands of lives. The Nearly 1,800 people signed a petition demanding a new commencement speaker who better aligned with the university’s mission statement and would not politicize the ceremony. If Donald Trump is Re-elected he could enact The Insurrection Act of 1807 which empowers the President to deploy active-duty military personnel within the United States to suppress insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful obstruction of the law, or any situation where normal enforcement of laws is hindered.
